JapaneseUchishiki Embroidered Buddhist Altar Tablecloth

This is an antique Japanese Buddhist altar tablecloth Uchishiki. I think it was probably used around the Meiji era. Embroidered with a picture of a Shishi lion. Triangular uchishiki is mainly used by followers of Jodo Shinshu Buddhism as the upper table (Maejyoku) and the front table(Uwajyoku) in the Buddhist altar during events such as New Year’s Day, the equinoctial week, Obon, and memorial services.
