B,1904 Jefferson Bible by Thomas Jefferson

Notes

The 1904 Jefferson Bible, also known as “The Life and Morals of Jesus of Nazareth,” is a unique religious text compiled by Thomas Jefferson, the third President of the United States. Jefferson, known for his intellectual curiosity and skepticism towards traditional religion, meticulously edited and arranged passages from the New Testament to focus solely on the moral teachings of Jesus while omitting any mention of miracles or supernatural elements. This project was a deeply personal endeavor for Jefferson, reflecting his belief in the importance of moral philosophy over religious dogma. The resulting work offers a fascinating insight into Jefferson’s religious and philosophical beliefs and remains a significant artifact in American intellectual history.
