Notes

Martin Luther’s New Testament and Psalms are landmark translations in the history of Christianity and the German language. In 1522, Luther published his translation of the New Testament, followed by the Psalms in 1524. These works were groundbreaking as they made the scriptures accessible to the general populace by translating them from Latin into German. Luther’s translations were not only linguistically innovative, capturing the essence and nuances of the original texts, but also played a crucial role in the Protestant Reformation, empowering individuals to read and interpret the Bible independently. His work significantly influenced both religious practice and the development of the German language.
